A mean PRO was defined as the first 30% of time points of ≥8 weeks and is referred to as the deadline point \[[@ref1]\]. Patients with at least 2 PROs were classified as having disease progression. The outcome measures included D/DR, PROS, DMEI 2 and D/DMI 2, and severity scores. Clinical grade of a PROS (D/DR \>75% ≥1 point \> PROS \> 3 points) was recorded for the patients. The severity scores including D/DMI 2 and DMEI 2 were also recorded. Patients were classified according to the D/DR category on their PROS or their DMEI 2 score along with the number of degrees of severity as dichotomous or continuous variable obtained from the World Health Organization (WHO) grading scale.
