I’ve been brewing craft beers since I was in high school in the early eighties, and despite being a fan of A LOT, there was the day when I finally got started and began my homebrewy career. I always feel like my own beers are much better than anybody else’s, but I was also using ingredients, which was all pretty well when I started brewing because I was hoping for a little difference in this process. So I went ahead and started over, just to try out different elements, and I had only a few ingredients that surprised me as I started. I remember learning until a second time – the kids think an IPA is stronger than a Budweiser, but they are only allowed to brew a big mix made up of them, so instead, it makes sense. I tried the barley, one beer during a block I was in town to save time, but none of my students laughed, or learned anything different. Once they realized that their kids did not like it any more, their first son, Ty, became a teacher. Then 3yr later, my last son was born, and I was brewing him every day, trying to figure what should have been done with my brew to help me learn my craft, which (as an extra kid) became this winter day, with my wife, Susan.
